On Saturday August 19th, we hosted our 11th annual charity golf outing event at the Coyote Preserve in Fenton. Our event Title sponsor was the Fenton Fire Hall restaurant. This year was our biggest year so far with having 121 golfers. The day started with a putting competition where everyone circled the practice green and had to putt a ball between their legs to a spot in the center of the green. Whoever was closest won a prize for the contest. We then teed off at 8am for a 4 man best ball scramble format.
Throughout the course there were a handful of games and fun things that teams could participate in. Some of those competitions included longest drive and closest to the hole for both men and women and a skins match. We had a golf ball launcher donated and sponsored by Noah Morgan from Acorn Wealth Management. The Launcher was an air compressed bazooka style launcher that used a special dart like golf ball that were shot down the fairway from the tee box. The launcher would shoot the ball accurately straight and typically over 300 yards. We had a challenge hole where golfers could wager a dollar amount whether they would hit the green on a par-3 or not. And as always, we had our fun cart driving around selling 50/50 tickets and handing out party favors throughout the day.
The end of the round was followed up with a delicious steak dinner and prize banquet. This year’s winning team was Team Alfen an 11 under par 60. Second place was Team Hajec with a 10 under par 61. We had toilet bowl trophies for our last place team which was won by Team Johnson, Koan, Sturgis and Carlson shooting a 9 over par 80.

Thanks for all who joined the best “Walking Dead”. This was the 3rd annual Nightmare on Mill Street Halloween party and costume event. This year’s party was on Saturday October 22nd from 8pm-12am. The event, presented by Vic Canever Chevrolet will be located on Mill Street in downtown Fenton across from the Post Office and between Adelaide and Leroy Streets.
Event included dancing to a live DJ, enjoying food from Fenton Fire Hall restaurant, taking pictures in our FREE photo booth and having a good time with friends while enjoying some drinks sponsored by The Corner Bar. There was a prize for best dressed “walking dead” costume at the end of the night.
This event was for adults 21 and up (cost is $10). All proceeds help support the Fenton Firefighter’s Charities. Thanks to all who supported and joined us!
Saturday September 24th we hosted another Food Giveaway event at our station. We teamed up with Play Like Jackson Foundation and St. Jude’s Church to purchase food from the Eastern Michigan Food Bank. From 9:00AM-11:00AM, we invited anyone in our area in need of food to come grocery shop at our station. Shoppers were able to get items such as frozen meat, fresh fruit and vegetables, snack foods, drinks, boxed baked goods, new toiletry items and more. Over 200 families from the area visited the event and we had over 20 volunteers on hand helping out. Local school students also volunteered by helping carry groceries to the shoppers vehicles when they were finished shopping.
This past August 27th, our charity hosted its 10th annual golf outing fundraiser held at the Preserve Golf Course in Fenton. The outing was presented by The Fenton Fire Hall Restaurant and sponsored by many other local businesses. There were 19 teams present this year and trophies awarded for 1st and 2nd place teams, as well as a toilet bowl “You stink” trophy for the last place team.
We kicked off our event with a putting challenge on the practice green. Everyone lined up on the fringe with a golf ball that had their name on it. On the count of three, everyone putted at the exact same time to a hole in the center of the green for a prize. The winner received a free car for a weekend courtesy of Al Serra Grand Blanc.
There were prizes for men and women longest drive won by Josh Sturgis and Stacey Workman. Prizes for closest to the pin were won by Cindy Lamb and Al Brown. We also had one winner for our 50/50 raffle who kindly donated the money back to our charity.
Our women’s auxiliary was a huge help as usual. On the 17th hole (a par 3) the girls hosted a challenge. The golfer could pay 5 dollars and get a cookie, if the player hit the green, they would receive their $5 back plus win an additional $5. This was a fun and exciting hole for all golfers. The girls also drove our “welcome cart” around the course handing out free party favors and cigars as well as selling 50/50 tickets to each group.
The event was finished off with a steak dinner followed by our team awards and prize raffle. Our 2016 winning team was Team Alflen with a -12 under score of 59. Second place was won by Team Lucius with a -10 under score of 61. And our “You Stink” trophies went to our last place Team Lamb with a +5 over score of 76.

Fenton Firefighters Community Open House
Fenton Firefighters Charities will be hosting a community Open House on Saturday October 10th, 2015 from 12:00PM – 4:00PM. This FREE event includes the following activities:
- A visit from the University of Michigan Survival Flight Helicopter (approximately 1:00PM – 2:00PM)
- Stop Drop and Roll
- Stay low and Go
- Two ways out and home escape plans
- Identifying home hazards
- Working smoke alarms
- Learning about fire toll safety
- Tour the station and trucks
- Bounce house
- And a visit from our firefighter and Sparky the Fire Pup
1st Annual Family Fun Run
After five very successful years of our 5K/10K road race event, this year our charity has teamed up with the Fenton Education Foundation (NPO) changing our Run Through the Flames event into a family fun 5K run/walk with color stations to make it even bigger and better.
Please join us this year on Saturday August 29th at 9:00AM for our 1st annual Run Through the Color and Flames event, which will benefit both of our charities enabling us to help many people in our GREAT community. As in the past, the race will begin and finish at our fire station located at 205 E. Caroline Street in Fenton. Join us afterward for some fun events downtown featuring live music, food and drinks.
