Coat Drive with Play Like Jackson Foundation

Coat Drive was SuccessfulCoat Driver 2014

On Wednesday and Thursday November 5th and 6th, the Play Like Jackson Foundation with the help of local Fenton High School students hosted their coat drive at our fire station. People from around the area came to drop off new and used coats that would then be delivered to One Warm Coat and then given to those in need during the upcoming winter months. Over 200 coats were collected.

Nightmare on Mill Street

Nightmare on Mill St 2014On Friday October 24th, our charity hosted the 1st annual Nightmare on Mill Street event. This was a zombie themed costume party that was held downtown behind Yesterdays Treasures and across from the post office. The event was from 8pm-midnight and had around 200 attendees. We raised about $7,000!

Throughout the night there were a dozen prizes given away as well as a raffle for a pair of diamond earrings before the nights end. A flash mob appeared around 11:45 doing a dance to Michael Jackson’s Thriller song.

There were mixed cocktails, beer and a DJ to keep the party going. DB designs did the decorations for the event while Geryches donated the tents, and food was donated by the Fenton Fire Hall Restaurant. Vic Canever Chevrolet was the main sponsor for the event. We would also like to thank the many other sponsors that helped that night.

Thanks to the help of so many wonderful people, sponsors and attendees, our event was able to bring in around $7000 for our charity that night.

Play Like Jackson Foundation

Red Wing’s player Joe Kocur’s charity foundation softball series event

On Saturday August 24th, 2013 members from our charity group attended former Red Wing’s player Joe Kocur’s charity foundation softball series. The games played in Highland, MI benefitted multiple charities in the area, and this years series “Play Like Jackson” was played in honor of Fenton’s Jackson Gangwar whom lost his life this past April at the age of 12.

Thousands of spectators came out to watch the games that were played by teams from the Fenton Fire Dept, Highland Twp, Whitelake Twp and Milford police and fire departments.

Each team had a chance to play the celebrity team which included names such as Joe Kocur, Darren McCarty, Chris Osgood, Dino Ciccarelli, Juri Fischer, Dave Coulier and more with Mickey Redmond announcing a play-by-play. There were plenty of events for the kids such as bounce houses, small carnival rides and an ice cream eating contest. Please visit their website www.joekocurfoundation.org/  to find out more information on their great foundation.
